New Year's Day Levee

The Friends of Fort George and Parks Canada cordially invite you to the annual New Year’s Day Levee! Join us at Navy Hall on January 1, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. as we ring in the New Year. This community celebration carries on an old tradition of citizens gathering together to pledge allegiance to our Sovereign, to renew old acquaintances and raise a toast to the continued prosperity of our nation. Light refreshments will be offered to all in attendance, with official toasts at 3:30 p.m. This will be followed by the firing of a cannon.
This year’s honourary cannoneer is Mr. David Partridge, who won the live auction at the Beefsteak Society Dinner in November.
Fireside Fridays Lecture Series

Back by popular demand! Parks Canada and the Friends of Fort George are hosting Speaker Series Fridays in February at Navy Hall in Niagara-on-the-Lake. These one-hour-long presentations will feature staff and historians from Parks Canada, special guest speakers and some original artifacts from the War of 1812 and beyond!
Tickets are $15.75 (taxes included) per event or $47.25 (taxes included) for the series of all four. Buy three – get one free!

Wacky, Weird and Wonderful: When Artifacts go Wild! Part 3

Dan Laroche – Manager, Fort George National Historic Site
Dan Laroche has been at Fort George since 1988 and has been Manager/Supervisor of Fort George for the past 20+ years. He has done years of research on Fort George and was one of the authors of the new publication “Fort George: A History”. Dan will once again highlight rare and unique artifacts from the collection at Parks Canada that all have something in common, in that they are not common at all. Mostly from the War of 1812, these artifacts will test your knowledge and imagination. Channel your inner “Antiques Roadshow” enthusiast to help answer that age old question: “What the heck is that?!?”
From Ball Clubs to Blunderbusses: Weapons of the War of 1812

Hall Peter Martin – Visitor Experience Product Development Officer and Special Events Coordinator, Parks Canada
Peter Martin brings over 30 years of experience working at historic War of 1812 sites and has presented on various topics throughout North America. Peter will showcase and discuss weapons of all shapes and sizes from the War of 1812. From the standard weapons that soldiers carried into battle to the more distinctive weapons carried by cavalry, navy, and First Nations, all will be on display. On the day before Valentine’s Day, nothing says I love you like a tickle from a feather spring.
Myths and Legends of The Battle of Queenston Heights

Amanda Gamble – Executive Director, Friends of Fort George
Amanda Gamble has worked for the Friends of Fort George since 2010, and has been the Executive Director sine 2015, overseeing the staff and interpretive programming at Brock’s Monument for 11 years. Amanda’s talk will take an in-depth look into the Battle of Queenston Heights and delve into some of the common myths and misconceptions that surround the infamous battle that are discussed regularly at Brock’s Monument.
Queenston Heights: The Musical

Experience the Battle of Queenston Heights like never before, through music. Peter Alexander and Gavin Watt have been entertaining Niagara residents at Fort George since the 1980's. Together they have done over 70 years of research and performances of military music from the War of 1812. Peter and Gavin will take you through the battle of Queenston Heights by the music that was played throughout day. From the music that called the troops into action to the lament played at Brock’s funeral this unique and one-of-a-kind experience will both educate and entertain.
Heroes of the War of 1812: A Charity Dinner with the Lord Mayor

Lord Mayor Zalepa and the Friends of Fort George cordially invite you to join us for a special charity event to raise funds for the 2026 youth staffing program at Brock's Monument and Fort George. The evening will feature a 3-course meal by Events by Kristin, wines sponsored by Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, an auction, historic artifacts on display, a cannon firing, and post-dinner entertainment.

Whisky Tasting

Save the date! The Friends of Fort George in partnership with Forty Creek Distilleries is hosting the fourth annual whisky tasting event at Historic Navy Hall, hosted by Forty Creek North American Brand Ambassador, Chris Thompson. Paired with extensive Hors D’hoeuvres, there will be several different award-winning Forty Creek whisky samples provided.
