Friends of Fort George Annual General Meeting

We hope you will join us for our 39 th Annual General Meeting on May 6, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Navy Hall. Light refreshments and a special presentation about Niagara’s History will take place following the business portion of the meeting. If you are interested in being more involved as a Board Director, please call 905-468-6621 or email admin@friendsoffortgeorge.ca for information about commitments and responsibilities, as nominations from the floor are not accepted. A slate of Directors’ names will be presented for election at the AGM.
Niagara in BOOM - Mother's Day Special

This Mother's Day weekend, celebrate in explosive style at Fort George! Treat the special moms in your life to a truly unforgettable experience—the chance to fire a real cannon! Join us on May 10 for a day filled with history, fun, and a blast from the past. Don’t forget to take in Niagara in Bloom while you’re in town. Bring the family, explore the fort, and make this Mother’s Day one for the history books! Canon firings must be pre booked by emailing us at niagaraont@pc.gc.ca. Don’t miss your shot - literally!
Cost: $150 per firing (includes admission to the fort for 1 adult)
NOTL Antique Evaluation Show

Join Andre Wagner, Antique Valuer, and the Friends of Fort George for an exciting afternoon of antiques roadshow style entertainment! Gather up your favourite collectibles and family heirlooms, and Andre can share if they are a treasure, or just a special family keepsake!
Andre’s family has been in the antique business since 1965. Accompanying his parents on buying trips, both locally and in Europe, Andre honed his developing sense of what was worthwhile, before working at Waddington’s auction house, lecturing on antiques, and starting his own business! Cost: $10.00/item All proceeds from this event will help the Friends of Fort George provide student employment opportunities at Brock’s Monument and Fort George for the 2026 season!
Fort Major's Tour

Experience an exclusive in-depth tour of the site delivered by the site manager, Dan Laroche. On this special tour, you’ll be guaranteed to avoid the crowds and hear stories not often told during regular hours. You’ll also get to handle artifacts that were present at the fort during the War of 1812 and witness a musket firing demonstration! Tickets must be booked in advance by phoning the fort at 905-468-6614 or via e-mail at niagaraont@pc.gc.ca
Artillery Day

Join us to celebrate The Canadian Royal Regiment of Artillery’s 311 th Birthday and Fort George will be celebrating with a BANG! Cannons will roar to life with firing demonstrations along with specialized programing that will highlight the “Heavy Metal” from days gone by. Artillery firing demonstrations will be happening at 11:15am, 1:15pm and 3:15pm.
Fort George in the Great War

To commemorate the First World War, Parks Canada and re-enactors from all across North America will bring Fort George National Historic Site back to its Camp Niagara roots with displays and demonstrations honouring those who fought in the war to end all wars.!! Celebrate Canada Day

Fort George National Historic Site is open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm on July 1st, and it’s free all day! Throughout the day, visitors to Fort George can tour the buildings, visit with costumed interpreters, enjoy a musket demonstration and more! Please note, buildings close at 5:00 pm. There will be cold drinks and treats available from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm inside Fort George. Food services will start at 4:00 pm. Evening entertainment starts at 6:30 pm with the kiddie militia and drill, followed by a presentation by the Fort George Infantry, and Fife and Drum Corps. On stage will be “The Howling Horns.” An 8-piece horn band featuring music from blues to dance to classic rock. At 10:00 pm, a spectacular fireworks display will once again close the evening, by the award-winning fireworks company, Garden City Fireworks.
